A book with the same atmosphere as Sharp Objects?

I'm mostly thinking of the HBO mini series adaption of the book, although I love the book too.

I loved the depiction of the hot, humid, sweaty atmosphere of a small town in Missouri. I'm craving that feeling again. Can anyone recommend me a book with that similar vibe? It doesn't necessarily have to be crime-related.
