Alchemised truly made me find my taste in books. For a very long time I thought I was a Romantasy girl and that was my true genre. However, after reading alchemised I have been in such a slump due to the inability to find anything like it…
It is truly my new favourite book and I need something that checks the same boxes and themes that I loved.
– Something dark and gothic with amazing world-building with intricate details
– An intense and unique magic system
– I want trauma, war, political tensions and dark themes. (Love hunger games and the poppy war for these reasons). I want to be taken through the main characters intense struggles, grief, and pain.
– Prefer a side plot of romance and would absolutely love if a book had all of these things but if it doesn’t, that is fine.
If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!!

The Poppy War series might be perfect since you already loved it – R.F. Kuang really knows how to do that brutal world-building with complex magic systems 😭 Also maybe check some Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse books, they have pretty intense political stuff and the magic system is really detailed 🔥
