Hello, I apologize if this is not the right sub for this question. If there is a better sub for this specific question please let me know. My Mom can read and write in English but her vocabulary is not the best. Would YA novels be a good place for her to start?

Yes. Harry Potter is good. It’s what I read when learning Spanish and there were not too many complicated words.
