Interested in non-fiction recommendations surrounding the Sepoy Rebellion / British rule in India during the 19th century.

I’ve recently read some of George Orwell’s fantastic essays on his time in India during the early 20th century and I’d love to get some book recommendations similar to those surrounding the state of the British rule in India during the late 19th century (1850-1890).

I already largely understand the literal nature / order of the events that occurred, I’m more interested in getting an emotional / philosophical understanding on what people thought at the time.

If anyone has any recommendations, memoirs, essays, anything of the sort, I’d greatly appreciate it.
