So I’ve wanted to find some apocalyptic/virus book but they’re ALL set in a world where there’s a zombie apocalypse. Pls recommend me a book that is apo/post-apo but without zombies.
oof i feel this struggle 💀 most virus books just go straight to zombie mode but there are some good ones that skip that whole thing
station eleven is amazing – it’s about a flu pandemic that wipes out most of civilization but no zombies, just people trying to rebuild and survive. the road is also brutal post-apocalyptic but more environmental collapse than virus specifically
also oryx and crake deals with genetic engineering gone wrong, super dark but brilliant writing 😂

How High We Go In The Dark, by Sequoia Nagamatsu, is wonderful.

“Water in the Desert, Fire in the Night” by Gethan Dick. Brilliant story about surviving in the aftermath of a mysterious global pandemic.
