Easiest call of my life: Embassytown
Novel by China Miéville. Are you looking for a literary book that is also a sci fi? Are you looking for truly weird aliens and alien language? Are you wanting beautiful and skilled purple proes but in a sci fi?
Are you looking for a beautiful exploration of language?
Embassytown
Also I highly recommend not audio book as the language is very important.

Just Kids by Patti smith. It is such a raw and powerful autobiography. Loved every page of it.

The Book of the Dun Cow. One of the most beautiful, funny, violent, heart breaking, life affirming books I’ve ever read. Something about this book just speaks to my soul.

Never seen it recommended before but I found it entertaining:
Flaming Iguanas: An Illustrated All-Girl Road Novel Thing by Erika Lopez
It appears it may be out of print though.

*Little Red Barns* by Will Potter. Read it until the end to know why those on the left should care about animal agriculture.
RubiksCub3d on
*Native Son* by Richard Wright
Reading it for the first time and “holy shit” is all I can say.
Given the context of *who* wrote this and *when* (a black man in the 1940s) and the subject matter, it’s wild it was even given the time of day to be published.
If you read *The Lincoln Highway* by Amor Towles and enjoyed it, I think you’ll like this one.
