We are (somewhat unexpectedly) going to be taking a trip to Portugal in the next few weeks with my 12 & 14 year old daughters. We don’t know much about Portugal! Looking for a book we can read aloud (or perhaps audiobook) during the trip that would give us a lovely sense of place, history, culture, food, etc. It’s fine if the language is fairly complex, but prefer if it’s not too adult in terms of graphic sex, violence etc. Because it’s obviously family reading!
(Context: We are Americans, escaping the hellscape for a few precious weeks.)
