I enjoy reading books that give practical insight into how modern life looks in different countries — how people's lives are organized, how they spend their free time, and particular quirks of culture that only people who live there can know.

Some examples of books like this:

    1. "Watching the English" by Kate Fox
    2. "Swiss Watching" by Diccon Bewes

I would appreciate recommendations for similar books, particularly about American and European cultures.

been diving into cultural observation books lately too and theres some gems out there. for american stuff, bill bryson’s “notes from a big country” captures the absurdity of everyday american life pretty well – hes got that outsider perspective that makes you notice things you normally wouldnt.

for european cultures, “the xenophobe’s guide” series is solid even though the covers look cheesy. they break down the unspoken rules and social quirks country by country. also check out “60 million frenchmen cant be wrong” if you want to understand why french people do literally everything differently than americans think they should.
