What I really want is a low(ish) stakes sci-fi adventure story with a female lead. I don’t want a galaxy expanding space opera. And I don’t want a military sci-fi novel. (I have read/am aware of Elizabeth Moon’s works, but that’s not really what I am looking for right now)
Stories that I have already read and loved that fit the kind of vibe I am looking for:
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers
The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells read the whole thing and absolutely love this series)
I am fine with stories that are less cozy that have more action. I would rather focus on like one ship or crew rather than a whole fleet or army or something. I am also fine with romance but I want more of the focus to be space and adventuring. Well. I could actually do with a mystery in space. I have also enjoyed many stories by Isaac Asimov. I want the space travel to be there somewhere though.
