So I've never been a reader as a kid, only reading Deathly Hallows for school.
I read Abroad in Japan's book when it came out a few years ago and will get the new one in September.
But I recently read Project Hail Mary after my wife begging me to read it. I loved it, finished in 5 days. So much so I bought a Kindle Paperwhite. As much as I've enjoyed the new format of media, I've enjoyed not consuming my phone or absolute crap and switching off for a bit.
I'm looking for any recommendations really, I've gone heavy into the sci-fi theme currently and wouldn't mind some different ones so I don't get burnt out. I'm tending to look for books around 400 pages while I find my feet into what I like and don't like. I wouldn't mind larger books but they do feel overwhelming at the moment.
Books I've read so far
PHM: really enjoyed the science aspects of this. Excellent book. Rocky my goat. As soon as I finished it I went to the cinema that evening.
Upgrade by Blake Crouch: picked up for 99p so gave it a whirl. Really enjoyed this one until the 3rd act when it became a bit too action movie from where it started. The science aspects hit the same vibe as PHM for me which helped. Characters were a bit colder but that's by design I think. Glad I read it before Dark Matter and Recursion.
Currently Reading, The Rithmatist. On chapter 7 currently, I'm definitely intrigued by this one, the magic system is interesting. I've heard a lot of Brandon Sanderson but considering most of his stuff is 1000 pages I thought I should probably stick to the smaller books and this one fits that nicely.
