I'm currently reading Ikigai, and every time the authors mention Japanese people, culture, or wisdom, I find myself drawn in and eager to learn more. I'm not looking for historical books or anything written decades ago. Instead, I'd love a modern book that introduces Japanese culture, its people, and their age-old wisdom about living, something contemporary with real depth. Thanks!

I have some
i’ve read a bunch of books on japanese culture over the years and there’s definitely some good contemporary stuff out there. You might want to look into books that focus on specific aspects like their work philosophy or social dynamics rather than broad overviews – those tend to have more depth. The ones that actually interview real japanese people instead of just observing from the outside usually give better insights too. just avoid anything that feels too much like “life lessons from japan” since those can get pretty surface-level fast.
