I’m looking for books about working in a museum – specifically centered around the relations of the workers. I’m not looking for a fantastical story about a quirky, young female curator who has a whimsical job exploring the art collection which comes to life before her eyes or whatever. I’m more interested in a sort of workplace drama set in a museum, with complex characters who do/don’t get along for a myriad of reasons and highlights the difficulties of museum work. I like a mix of drama with wit and humor and some sprinkled in self-reflection. Think Fleabag.

I know a book called Friends of the Museum by Heather McGowen has recently come out. Despite its less than favorable ratings, it is on my list because it sounds like what I’m looking for (although the reviews claim there are far too many characters) so I’ll give it a try. But is there anything else in that general realm?

    1. Not what you’re looking for but the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E Frankweiler should be recommended wherever there’s a chance
