Hello! I'm 19M, looking to get back into reading. I used to read voraciously growing up, exclusively fiction, and I remember some of my favourite series' being CHERUB by Robert Muchamore and the Maze Runner by James Dashner. I stopped reading almost completely after 13, and I'm trying to get back in the habit again.

I started reading Dune by Paul Herbert, but I've been finding it a difficult read, with there being so much information that it takes me a long time to get through and understand, and probably because my media literacy has gone down the drain these past years. I tried again with Project Hail Mary (which was an easier read), but after learning about the plot through the movie, I kind of lost interest in finishing it.

Do you guys have any recommendations for books that are easier reads to get my literacy back and build my rhythm back up again?

In terms of preferences, though I was a fan of dystopian YA in my teens, I feel that I've outgrown it a little, so I'd like to lean away from that for now. Right now in life, I feel I'm more inclined to a soft comedy or slice of life story, something that isn't a heavy action thriller. I'm also okay with stories set in different universes, i.e. sci-fi, as I remember being deeply engrossed in the Ready Player One and The Maze Runner worlds back then. I've never been super interested in fantasy settings, but I'm open to try those that you guys strongly recommend.

    Thank you!
