So my dad got a new ereader and I plan to load some books onto it to get him started. I'm looking for some books that he might not yet know about and was wondering if anyone had any good tips.
He likes:
– Fantasy
– sci fi
– Historical Fiction
– Morally gray characters, preferably male and closer to his own age (60), but he's thankfully flexible on that.
– Political intrigue
– mystery
He's not a fan of:
– Christie-style whodunnits
– Too much action / books that revolve around action and combat
– Overly heroic main characters
Examples of authors he already likes:
– Tolkien
– Ken Follett
– Stephen King
– Robin Hobb
– Brandon Sanderson (didn't expect this from him but okay)
– Harlan Cobin
– Ursula Le Guin
– Robert Jordan
He can sometimes be convinced to read things outside of his comfort zone. Recently I got him to read the Roma Sub Rosa series by Steven Saylor and he liked it, even though they are mysteries.
Does anyone have any good recs?
