Looking for a book or series that evokes a feeling similar to the Metroid franchise.

I adore the isolated alien experience of the Metroid videogame franchise, where the plot isn't just the mission, but exploration, understanding the environment, solving puzzles, and deep lore. I'm particularly looking for a sole, isolated protag with minimal other characters where available.

Can anyone recommend me a book (or series) that evokes similar feelings?
