Hey all!
My favourite book is The Martian by Andy Weir and I’ve read it many times! And I got curious about such rereads.
So I decided to ask you all what’s the one book or series (any genre) that you personally reread roughly every year because it’s your absolute favourite or just that special? I’m especially interested in ones people have been coming back to for 5/10/15 or even 30+ years!?
Please include:
• Title and author
• How long you’ve been doing this annual reread?
• If possible: What makes it so re-readable for you (specific reasons – characters, writing style, emotional impact, world, comfort factor, a particular scene, etc.)
Thanks in advance! I’m really looking forward to your suggestions and the stories behind them!

I’m currently on my ninth yearly read of my favorite book, Good Times/Bad Times by James Kirkwood. The novel is a boy in jail writing a letter to his lawyer to explain how he ended up killing his boarding school headmaster. There’s humor, tension, heartbreak, friendship, and even a little horror, and the characters have such depth that they feel like my friends. I look forward to it every spring.
I’m very lucky to have found this book when I did: I googled boarding school fiction in 2018 and this was on a list that I haven’t been able to find since, probably because vintage books (this is from 1968, I think) have largely been drowned out by modern ones, especially after the dark academia trend a few years ago. I hope you give it a shot!
