what it says in the title. i feel like no matter how much a female main character is described as “independent”, no matter how much she acts “on her own terms”, she always ends up in a girlfriend/wife/mother role one way or the other.
i don’t have a problem with romance in books and i don’t think a woman has to be single to be independent, i’m just bored of marriage/kids feeling like the inevitable ending. give me some representation for those who are single by choice!
litfic preferred but i’m open to any genre.
