I have never read a book for fun, only movies. Big fan of black metal atmosphere (cold, grim, forest horror), horror movies like Hereditary and The Thing, action bank robberies like Heat and Hell or High Water, and fantasy worlds like Lord of the Rings. Got a $150 Amazon gift card from galaxy bids and want to fully spend it on books. Give me 3 to 5 book suggestions that match this vibe. I like dark and brutal stuff, just nothing boring.

Between Two Fires is a fantasy novel about a knight and a young girl traveling to Paris at the height of the Black Death. And also angels and demons are real. It’s grim and bloody and violent. I’m only partway through it but I was also looking for something “metal” because I’ve been playing a lot of Diablo recently. It’s really scratching the itch.
Give The First Law series a try, starting with “The Blade Itself.”
