Planning to gift it to her for mother’s day. The stories should be about women and their lives, decentering men and showing her that ordinary life on your own/without a man can be beautiful. Not sure if such a book exists but if you know of any please let me know. She is gen x, so it would probably be good if being young wasn‘t an important part of the book(s)
(It should ideally be short stories because she‘s struggling to hold focus during this difficult time, but you can also suggest a normal book with a singular story)

(Also, sorry about the flair I couldn‘t figure out the editing, I would have it saying „decentering men“, „women’s stories“ or something like that)
I don’t know a book like that but she might enjoy Wintering by Katherine May. It’s an easy read and gently explores ways to enjoy winter – but also depressed or sad periods.
