I read the seven year slip last year and absolutely loved it. I went into it not really knowing what to expect but it turned out to be one of those books that make you cry but give you hope at the same time. The mix of romance and magic yet still being mature was perfect. I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump recently so I’m looking for a book that would possibly ignite a similar feeling. Doesn’t have to have time travel elements but if it does that would be great.

I was reading say you’ll remember me by Abby Jimenez but it hurts to say after pushing and forcing myself to 80% I just could not bring myself to finish it.

    1. Romance books with magical realism –

      – A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by Tia Williams
      – The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young
      – This Spells Love by Kate Robb
      – The Everlasting by Alix E Harrow (fantasy, not contemporary romance)

There’s a lot of mixed reviews on Say You’ll Remember Me but Abby Jimenez writes really heartfelt romances. I’d start with any of Part of Your World/Yours Truly/Just for the Summer books, whichever sounds most appealing to you.

I am actually listening to Ashley Poston’s Sounds Like Love right now. It’s cute and I also enjoyed The Dead Romantics. These mix a bit of magic in them too. Seven Year Slip is still my favorite, but maybe you’d like her other ones as well. Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid is another I enjoyed. A story about fate and what if you choose to do something else and how your life can end up. Couple others Oona Out of Order by Margarita Montimore and Love of My Afterlife by Kristy Greenwood were fun ones.

If you enjoy time travel and are open to YA, I’ll Stop the World by Lauren Thoman was something I really enjoyed (trying to stop a murder from happening). Also Throwback by Maureen Goo was cute (coming of age and some romance).

I would suggest reading The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna (Contemporary Romance with magical elements) also Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater (more of a fantasy)
