Two books I liked, both on domestic violence.
Big Little Lies and Lost Man, Jane Harper.
Neither being police books is part of it.
Big Little Lies because of Madeline, the humour is what I liked there. But not funny murder books, not at all what I want. The book doesn't try to be funny, it's just Madeline..that a bit of humour in the tale.
Lost Man because you expect it to be HER and it isn't and the whole book is really by the POV of the son, not any of the women. The fact you don't actually know the why of what happened to the victim for ages at first as well, so not a book going on about D.V. for the entire book.
I have read all the books by both authors and while good, didn't give me quite the same thing I am after. And yes I've read all the Aussie author mysteries, many were fine but not quite the same thing as Lost man.
So books like EITHER of these?
