I re-emphasise the personal part. I am not looking for an academic treatise on the history of a city.
I am looking for something more like a recollection of personal feelings, thoughts, experiences, etc., related to a place. Or a personal narrative but where, as the cliche goes, the city itself is a character. I am specifically thinking of place nostalgia, but I am open to other suggestions if they fit.
These are off the cuff examples, but I hope they make the point: Although a food show, in an episode of A Cook's Tour, Anthony Bourdain and his brother visit Bordeaux, where they used to live, exploring their childhood memories and visiting places their father took them to eat. What I'm not looking for is Francesco telling me about his family history during the Middle Ages in the documentary Francesco's Venice.
I am interested in cities, but again if there's an evocative personal perspective about, for example, Disneyland, I am open to suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
