HIGH STAKES PAGE TURNER, potentially Fantasy Romance, Audiobook needed for a VERY long drive.

In the morning, I am starting a drive across the country. I do love to drive but I don't love to sit still. Thus, I want a book recommendation where the first thing you can say about the book/audiobook is that is a PAGE TURNER. I have recently been reading a lot of fantasy romance, so something along those lines is good but also open to other stuff.

I'm looking to something rather fast paced. The worst possible suggestion for something in the romance genre would be where it takes 1 book for the couple to even meet and 3 books for them to get together (ie The Plated Prisoner series by Raven Kennedy). I'm looking for my plot to keep plotting!

In terms of Romantasy, I have pretty wide interests, high tolerance for spice and "dark" content (dark aka kink adjacent, book has 2 pages of content warnings). In that context, I would prefer spice in book one, I don't relate much to endless yearning, and again, I want a story that keeps moving. Queer content would be a plus, but not a must.

Some in-genre books I read a while back that I really enjoying include: Amid Clouds and Bones by Ella Fields, The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent, The Court of Ravens Duet by Liv Zander, Phantasma by Kaylie Smith. I started in the Romantasy genre with ACOTAR and the Empyrean Series, which I clearly enjoyed since I have been reading in that genre for about a year straight.

A contemporary romance I loved was Lights Out by Navessa Allen which had massive page-turner quality, and some humor. Humor is always a plus.

The last book that was neither of these genres that I read and loved was All Fours by Miranda July.
I also love a twist and a mystery might be good. I love true crime podcasts and British mystery shows. Not as well read in this genre but maybe you can turn me on to something.

Okay so fast paced, high stakes/edge of your seat drama, perhaps with some romance or a fantasy setting is what I am looking for, and I'm willing to sacrifice beautiful prose for keeping things moving. Thanks!!
