I've been on goodreads for years. But honestly the UI kinda sucks. You can't search for people seamlessly, it's very slow and I also noticed that you can't filter the reviews by the number of stars.
Are there any other apps that you guys use to socially connect with other readers or maintaining a track of the books you've read/TBR?
I am a software developer and me and a friend have been thinking for a long time to develop a more mainstream app for readers. Thought?

I’m a storygraph user all the way. I stick around on goodreads for the giveaways, but that’s about it.
Second for StoryGraph. You can port your Goodreads over too.
TBH, I like the ideas of book trackers in concepts but mainly just use goodreads/thestorygraph to track my own reads and ignore the reviews of others (outside of my friends) because I’ve found the scores to be unreliable and most written reviews to be… not great.
While I think your ideas for improving goodreads are helpful, I don’t know if it helps with a lot of hte core issues with the user base. Something like rotten tomatoes with a critic vs audience differentiation would be the most helpful but book critics don’t exist in the same way that movie critics do so… that is a nearly impossible fix
the only reason i still use Goodreads is because some of my friends are on it. Otherwise i would probably only use Pagebound. I like that every book has its own forum and that there is some gamification with quests.
Maybe not 100% what you’re looking for but I love ThriftBooks. Not only can I find cheap books on there in really good (sometimes brand new) condition but they also have a rewards program and a built in list system.
Not the best for connecting with others but it’s good for keeping track
