I have a grandma, 84, who has been getting increasingly bored and irritated with her iPad. She bought an iPad to watch movies/shows, play games on, and handle her personal business on, and recently she’s shown interest in those gimmicky, probably AI, story apps adverts that come across on the games she plays and has been asking me about them and becoming increasingly frustrated when i tell her they cost money and not to put her card information into them, so I wanted to buy her some physical books and set her up with some audiobooks on Libby so she could just see what she enjoyed risk free (I’m not certain she’s really ever *read* as a hobby in her life thus far).
She doesn’t really understand fantasy as a genre, i don’t think, but i still want to get her a wide variety of genres so perhaps some very simple adult fantasy? Same with literary fiction, some light recs but nothing crazy. Otherwise i think I’m looking for drama, comedy, and romance elements. As long as it’s entertaining and will keep her attention.
I can elaborate in the comments if needed, this is super outside my realm as a *mostly* fantasy/litfic reader 😅
