The only genre I’m not really interested in is a zombie apocalypse, unless there’s something new or unique about it. books with any other kind of monster though, I’m down for. I just finished the Monsterous series by Lily Mayne and though I enjoyed it, I really wanted to know more about the worldbuilding. thank you!

Children of the Fall by HS Down.

It’s about two sisters (one autistic and one an android) and how they have to reach safety after a group of terrorists and androids take over the US. Also features a side story about a girl in a VR video game tournament.

    2. Moon of the Crusted Snow/Moon of the Turning Leaves by Waubgeshig Rice

The Last Survivors series by Susan Beth Pfeffer (esp book 2, The Dead and the Gone, which works as a standalone)

I have just started reading a book called ‘Dating After the End of World’ which is a fun take on the genre so far.

Have you read Disnaeland by DD Johnston? It’s a beautiful book about the end of the world focused on a town in Scotland. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, published by a small indy press. Highly recommended!

Wool by Hugh Howey (the whole series is incredible)

The Stand by Stephen King (unabridged is the way to go)
