Hey everyone! I’m looking for some book recommendations.
Lately, I’ve been interested in fiction that deals with body horror, isolation, inevitability, psychological confinement, moral decay, and existential dread. Some works I’ve liked or have been interested in include All Tomorrows by C. M. Kosemen, Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo, and I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison.
I’m not necessarily looking for shock value alone. I’m more interested in stories that are disturbing because of their concepts, themes, atmosphere, or the way they explore suffering, violence, consciousness, or what it means to remain human under extreme conditions.
Does anyone have recommendations with a similar tone or subject matter?
Thanks!
