I find my taste in books pretty hard to describe, but would love suggestions.

A bit about how I read: I mostly listen to audiobooks and only read physically when traveling. My taste is mostly depends on my mood, so I enjoy different things at different times.

    What I enjoy:

    – Hero's journey/growth stories: fiction about someone starting from the bottom and working their way up (think: a beginner athlete making it to the top, or someone turning a failing business into a success)

    – Fantasy: especially character-driven stories with a sense of adventure

    – Light romance: sweet and fun, NOT heavy on explicit scenes (basically little to no adult scenes)

    – Thriller and mystery

    – Children's / middle grade books: genuinely enjoy these now and then but I can't read twice in a row (recently enjoyed the Amari series by BB Alston and the Wild Robot)

    – Humor and comedy

    **What I avoid:**

    – Romance with too many explicit adult scenes

    – Fantasy with political "fight for the crown" plots or historical settings

    – Thrillers that center on rape, drugs, or heavy trauma (I know it's realistic, but I don't want that in my reading; reality and news are enough for that)

    – Science fiction

    – Series with multiple books: I tend to lose interest midway (though I'll commit if it's gripping enough)

    Would love any suggestions.
