I remember the first time I watched Game of Thrones, the red wedding episode had me shocked. I watched the scene and then I kid you not, I could not utter a word for like the next 10 minutes. I was looking at one specific imperfection in the floor and I stayed in the same position for the whole time pondering… well… nothing. I was amazed for the first time in my life watching something like that.
Please suggest a book where there is a specific part or reveal after a buildup (or just randomly) that genuinely rocks you. Sort of like “what the actual fuck what that” type of feeling.

The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez, especially the final third or so
**Tree of Smoke** by Denis Johnson it is a brutal read, but I had that feeling of being in freefall. I read it then immediately got the audio book and listened to it.
The Book Thief but you can’t read anything about it or it’ll be spoiled for u
American Psycho. There’s a scene I wish I could forget.
the Warlord chronicles trilogy by bernard cornwell has a few, should scratch that game of thrones itch.

“I know I have gained Christ and through His blessing I have gained the whole world too, but for what I have lost, for what we have all lost, there is no end to the reckoning. We lost everything.”
