i'm not into reading & stuff, but i'm interested to learn music theory.. not new to music aswell, i have knowledge already, i just want to deep diver to music theory. please suggest me books
(i'm a beginner reader)
Been messing around with music for years and picked up a few theory books along the way. The Tonal Harmony book is solid but might be heavy for someone just getting into reading – it’s more like a textbook than something you’d casually flip through. I’d probably start with something like How Music Works since it breaks things down without being too dense, and the author actually explains why certain things sound good together instead of just throwing rules at you. Walter Piston’s book is classic too but can feel pretty academic if you’re not used to that style. Maybe grab something shorter first to see if you dig the reading format before diving into the chunky ones
