Living on this rock in an infinite nothingness isn't easy and it's often stressful. Working, taking care of loved ones, taking care of yourself and the fear of diseases, starvation, what other people think of you etc.

Sometimes, you need distraction and authors who will give you the feeling you're warm and safe.

For me, the ones who give me a distraction from the hardships of life are Leo Tolstoy's writings about the lives of poor people, compassion, teachings of non-violence, veganism and the search for faith, Oscar Wilde's grand plays and fairy tales and writings about aesthetics, Herman Hesse's love of nature and mankind and his yearning for Eastern spirituality, Raymond Carver's minimalism and simple stories about the lives of ordinary people.

Suggest me books and authors who wrote about similar themes.

Lmfao I was going to say LM Chilton because they’re fluffy goofy murder mysteries, McFaddencore you might say, except written in a comedy tone that to me embraces the absurdity of the genre which is key to enjoying the plot instead of rolling my eyes every other page.

But then I saw you said Leo Tolstoy so I see we went in different directions with this one, haha.

Ursula K Leguin. Her books are not always cosy per se and can get pretty heavy, but her characters are always so profoundly human that it feels optimistic to me. Like faith in humanity restored because reading her works make me feel like people are people (and not some estranged heartless monsters) and somehow we will always make it. I’m working my way through her catalogue and trying to go as slow as possible because reading her prose is so soothing to me (but sometimes you can’t help binge reading 🥲)
