My absolute favorite book of all time is The Destructives by Matthew De Abaitua (absolutely recommend). Followed by Tell The Machine Goodnight by Katie Williams. I'm also a big Kurt Vonnegut fan.
Based on the above, what's a book I should check out? Preferably sci-fi but I'm open to other genres.

I loved Red Rising. For me, it has to pull you in quickly and that one was great from the opener.
Three Body is my favorite sci-fi.
Scalzi has more humor. Fuzzy Nation is good.
Slaughterhouse 5 is one of my favorites. Maybe checkout Gateway by Pohl or A Canticle for Liebowitz. Kinda similar feel and tone.
Other favorites of mine are Hyperion, Dune, A Fire Upon the Deep, We are Legion We are Bob, and Piranesi
