So I’m pretty new to reading I’ve only ready a handful of books but my favorite out of all of them by far is HP. I think It’s because I like the characters soooo much and I enjoy a slow burn romance. Rn I’m reading through Percy Jackson which has been pretty good but I’m on the 3rd book and I’m feeling a little bit burnt out so I’m looking for another series to start. Anyways is my list.
A wizard of earthsea. Rangers apprentice.
Cradle. Mistborn. The hobbit/Lotr.
The belgariad. Sabriel. Farseer trilogy.
Theft of swords. Feist. Septimus heap.
First law.
Anyways that’s my list I’ve already seen the hobbit and lotr so idk if I would enjoy the books. Also like I said very likable characters is kinda a must for me. Lmk what I should read first thanks!

The Hobbit and especially the LoTR movies are very different from the books. Both are very good reads, but the Hobbit is much lighter and quicker and was aimed to be a cozier story for Tolkien’s son, and LoTR is much denser and a lot more in-depth with more world-building. There’s also not much in the way of romance in either book.
If you like HP and Percy Jackson, try Sabriel!
If you’re coming from HP/Percy Jackson and want characters you can live with for a while, I’d start with A Wizard of Earthsea or The Hobbit before Mistborn/Cradle. Earthsea is quieter and more mythic; The Hobbit is the coziest reset if you’re feeling burned out.
First Law is pretty dark, no romance there. I could see you enjoying the Queen’s Thief series. Don’t look up any spoilers though because there are lots of twists and turns.
