I love non fiction, memoir,sci-fi. I am in my late 30s and decided to go for classic book. East of eden is my first classic and immediately fell in love. I completed it in three weeks.
After completing it I started reading rest of my books tbr and dude the modern contemporary writing is not doing anything for me. I realized to make things simple and easy to read, art of writing is lost.
I miss Steinback writing now.
Any other author recommendations with similar writing style???

Well you can read more from him. The Pearl is pretty great too.
Anything ishiguro or le guin have great prose. Or just read more classics for now
I love Steinbeck. Another classic I love is The Good Earth by Pearl Buck.
A gentleman in Moscow is what I read after East of Eden and I wasn’t disappointment.
Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky if you have never read it is better than Steinbeck in my opinion.
I loved East of Eden.
Read more steinbeck if you haven’t. I liked tortilla flat, and grapes of wrath.
I like a lot of classics, have you read any Dickens? The language can be a little hard sometimes, but I love it anyway. Especially great expectations.
Most of the classics are classics for good reason. I really like Jack London books, Frankenstein is good, count of Monte Cristo.
Please read grapes of wrath. I love it more than east of Eden. It broke me. But maybe it’s just cos I read it first.
Tortilla flats is a joy and very fun. So give that a go if you want a break in between.
