    Hi all!

Not super sure what I'm expecting to find (if anything), but I just got a post on my feed asking for books that don't start off as horror, but end up being horror further in, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any books that were the opposite? I don't care what genre it switches to, I think I'd just like the novelty of a spooky book that turns into something else entirely. I know this is kind of vague, but any thoughts would be appreciated ^_^

    Thanks much!!

They are written for teens/tweens, so not *super* spooky/horror. But the Lockwood & Co series by Jonathan Stroud have a ghost story premise but are more mystery books at their core.

Much harder to find! Building dread on the sly is much easier than expelling dread part way through a story!

*The Gone World* by Tom Sweterlitsch

*Childhood’s End* by Arthur C. Clarke (*sort of..*)
