Hi everyone!
I recently bought my 79yo grandmother a kindle and I'm looking for books to add to it. She likes mysteries and thrillers. However, she doesn't mind any other genres either. I've added a few to her kindle such as:
- Verity
- The Housemaid
- Where the Crawdads Sing
- Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
Thank you so much in advance.

Gone girl fits into that similar category books you’ve listed! And the girl on the train.
Authors she might enjoy:
James Herriot, Agatha Christie, Dorothy Gillman, Lilian Jackson Braun, Jan Karon
The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency
The Correspondent by Virginia Evans.
The Thursday Murder Club, by Richard Osman
The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie is the first in a series with a very cheeky 11yo protagonist.

You can’t go wrong with Ruth Rendell.
Ruth Ware
A few relatively recent (to me) favourites.
The Appeal – Janice Halett
Malice – Keigo Higashino
The Crow Trap – Ann Cleeves
Wrong Place, Wrong Time – Gillian McAlister
The Cutting Season – Attica Locke
How to Age Disgracefully by Clare Pooley includes several characters that are in their 70s.
My 76yr old grandmother unexpectedly enjoyed the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb. I have bought her the 1st book in the next Elderling Realm Trilogy for her birthday.
Anything by Kate Morton! Lighthearted and beautifully written mysteries.
Jane Harper novels, maybe start with Aaron Falk trilogy (The Dry, Force of Nature, Exiles)
Wake by Shelley Burr
The Torrent by Dinuka McKenzie
The Lewis trilogy by Peter May
The Verdict by Nick Stone
Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine
Longtime Dead by T. M. Payne
I really like the Ken Follett kingsbridge series. They are a lot of pages but you can make the print big.
Remarkably Bright Creatures for sure!!
I think she’d also enjoy “the Thursday night murder club.”
Anything Louise Penny, Theo of golden by Allen Levi
Donna Leon’s Venice mystery series, the first book is Death at La Fenice. My grandma actually recommended this series to me, if your grandma likes Italian food she will love all the detailed descriptions of the detectives meals.
All the Laura Lippman novels but esp. What the Dead Know, Death Takes a Vacation, Prom Mom, so many.
Anne George- the Southern Sisters mysteries
The Retired Assassin’s Guide to Country Gardening by Naomi Kuttner.
