I’m about to work a 12 and a half hour shift and I need something to listen to. All genres welcome! I like a little bit of everything. Scary, mystery, thriller, romance, fantasy etc. it helps me stay awake for a long shift. My only preference is that it’s fiction. Please and thank you!

I really enjoyed The Everlasting audiobook if you like a mix of fantasy and romance that’s light on the actually romantasy vibes?
It’s got:
– Fantastic, fully fleshed out leads. Including an incredible lady knight – my favorite romance female lead ever.
– Gorgeous, evocative prose that feels like an old timey fairytale.
– Time travel.
– A compelling villain with interesting motivations and backstory.
– YEARNING. DEVOTION.
– Compelling world building given the shorter length and the fact that this book is a standalone.
– A romance that feels more like a steady lodestone and less like a whirlwind.
– Romance that feels trope defying for romantasy.
– A bittersweetness that stays far from saccharine.
Turns of Fate by Anne Bishop! It’s a fantasy book where a rookie cop helps solve arcane crimes! Her writing style is prevalent and really fits the story.
She has several other series but her A Novel of the Others series has a similar vibe and is really good too, however, its more fantasy with an almost romance subplot.
The Dragon Ridden series by TA white is a fantasy romance that is good too. The FMC is competent and it feels well written.
Some authors I recommend are Lee Child, John Sandford and Stephen Hunter.
Divine Rivals, Rebecca Ross
Needful Things was a great one for me to listen to!
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke – the audiobook is fantastic
I love the Slow Horses series by Mick Herron.
Girl, Serpent, Thorn – it’s a YA fantasy based Persian folklore.
