I love Stephen King’s It, but every time I read it, I feel that it could be a much better book with tighter editing. It seems that by that point, King was too successful to be edited strictly.
Can you suggest a similarly long and ambitious book by another author that is more tightly edited? I’m not a big fan of fantasy, especially stories with elves, orcs, or goblins. And I do like violence in my books.
