So, this year so far I've read:
Jon Shannon series by David Gemmell (3 books)
Hogfather – GNU sir Terry
Sharp ends – Joe Abercrombie
Pyramids – Sir Terry
Project hail Mary
Small gods – Sir Terry
The truth – Sir Terry
Guards guards – Sir Terry
World war Z – Max Brooks
Unfortunately, the only one of these that I haven't read before was PHM though I did massively enjoy it.
Recent favourites were The Gentlemen Bastards series, I'm a die hard discworld fan, love old school detective mysteries like Poirot and Holmes, and mega dense fantasy like a song of ice and fire. Also adore heavy science fiction like the expanse series, and altered carbon was a favourite.
Also have read everything Joe Abercrombie has put out, I think he's my current favourite author.
Badly need something new, can anyone recommend anything!?

For a variation of old school detectives but with a good dash of pulp, I recommend the Dee and Lao Mystery series by SJ Rozan and John Shen Yen Nee. They are very reminiscent of the Guy Ritchie Holmes movies, with detective work but plenty of action and snark.
The Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold is a fun, rollicking sci fi series with plenty of heart and snark in good measures.
I feel obliged to mention Dungeon Crawler Carl. I’m on the 7th book on my reread in advance of the just released 8th
I would suggest:
– ‘A Fall of Moondust’ by Arthur C. Clarke
– ‘The Princess Bride’ by William Goldman
– Potentially ‘Good Omens’ by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
There’s also the ‘Farseer’ trilogy by Robin Hobb and the ‘Memory, Sorrow and Thorn’ trilogy by Tad Williams.
