Me and my husband were talking about whether I buy too many books (I obviously don’t), but *then* when I revealed I mostly only buy books that I’ve already read, he said that was even worse!
So I tend to read most new (to me) books as ebooks, and then if I really love them, I buy the hard copy to have on my shelf, to look at – perhaps to re-read or refer to if I ever want to, certainly – but to a large extent, to look at. I just enjoy looking at them. To me, it’s a memory of a brilliant trip I went on, just like a postcard or a magnet.
Is this all that unusual?

That’s not a trophy room, that’s a library
They do furnish a room.
What I think it happens, is that you probably have too much unread books and too little read, and you would like to have more on the read shelf, more as a proof that you’re a reader and not only a buyer. Nothing wrong with it.
