I’ve been noticing there isn’t a lot of representation of men who are not strong or masculine that doesn’t portray them as kind of pathetic or contemptible or incompetent. I’m also looking for a book that is kind of darker in tone and complicated. I also love historical fiction so that would be a plus. Some books I’ve read recently that I liked that kinda fit the vibe: Lapvona by otessa moshfegh, solenoid by mircea catarescu, House of leaves.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Frodo is reluctant to go on the journey and is physically small and weak. He is celebrated for nonetheless doing his duty.
