I'm currently reading a fantasy book about the Roman Empire and they keep referencing Greek Gods instead of their Roman equivalents. It got me thinking about how frustrating all this fast fiction is and how every author thinks they can write a fantasy book without researching.
I'd love some recommendations for well written and well researched books. For example, Andy Weir, Jodi Picoult and Kristen Hannah all write excellent books and you can tell how much planning, thought and care goes into every page.
Happy for any genre.

Isabel Cañas and Silvia Moreno Garcia generally have pretty well researched work. They often include author’s notes at the end of their books set in historic periods elaborating on their sources and research process. Cañas in particular has a PHD in and knows how to do professional research.
And I haven’t read much by them yet, but I Know R. F Kuang and S.A. Chakraborty are pretty well regarded for how much research goes into their books.
