I have really enjoyed 5/6 of the Dune series, 1/4 of the Hyperion cantos. I’m looking for sort of “pallet cleansers” in between the the series books so i don’t get burned out on them. I really enjoyed where is Joe merchant by jimmy buffet and Hemingways to have and have not! Looking to expand my after i finish the 6th Dune.

Vorkosigan Saga is both. It occasionally explores ideas more like a speculative type sci-fi, but often moves more like pulp sci-fi. Across the series the main character will be all over the galaxy in all sorts of roles (though he’s not actually the main character in every book).
I really enjoyed them.
