I want a book that’ll educate me on the history of our race – think the discovery of fire, histories of humanoid species and what happened to them and how we came to be the creatures we are today. I also want it to be an easy, accessible read – I want to be educated but I’d also like to enjoy reading it without feeling like it’s written for someone with a sciencey background.
All suggestions are welcome except Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari.

Its quite an old fashioned idea that you can encapsulate the entirety of Human societies in one book…… so I’ll suggest an old book that I really enjoyed. “The Ascent of man” by Jacob Bronowski which came out in the early 70’s. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very accessible. Not too academic. The BBC made a 13 part documentary series based on it which was wonderful.
I’m sure contemporary academic anthropologists and whatnot would take issue with it but its still a great book.
The Dawn of Everything
Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari. Brilliant. I am hooked on anything this author writes. His insight is incredible. Highly recommend.
