I'm writing a book and I need lots of very descriptive sword / melee fighting for reference. Idc if the rest of the book is good or not, as long as the descriptions are detailed and nice to read (doesn't have to be entirely realistic)
no magic of superpowers during the fights, please.

The First Law trilogy has some really brutal melee combat scenes that might work for you 💀 Joe Abercrombie goes into detail with the sword work without getting too technical, and characters actually get tired and make mistakes during fights which makes it feel more grounded
Also check some historical fiction – Bernard Cornwell’s stuff has solid battle descriptions that aren’t overly flowery but still give you good material to work with 😂
