I am looking for a book recommendation for my 25m friend. I am a big reader & pretty much read anything. My friend and I are currently reading Anxious People by Fredrik Backman together. He never wants to read but he is REALLY enjoying this. I want to keep the momentum going and do another buddy read together after.
The things he likes about the book:
– The writing style: Backmans ability to write characters that are interesting and funny. People you can imagine in your own life.
– The comedy intertwined into serious topics. Making things relatable but not overstated. He does not like overtly sappy stories and I think the comedy and approach Backman takes makes for an enjoyable read.
– The overall premise of the bank robbery along with the mystery element.
I am sure we will read other Backman books after this (I have already read A Man Called Ove). Any and all suggestions are welcome!

The Ernest Cunningham series by Benjamin Stevenson might work well. The first book is called Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone. It has the comedy and mystery elements and the 4th book in the series is a take on a bank robbery story.
