Hi, I’m a newbie when it comes to fiction. I’ve read very little fiction outside of the books assigned in school. In my adult life, I’ve mostly been voraciously reading self-help books and memoirs. I’d like to take a break from that and just escape into fiction.
But… I don’t even know how to find good books or who the best fiction writers are. I just listened to The Perfect Marriage on Libby through the library today, and the book was so bad that I skipped most of the chapters and eventually googled what happens. 🤣
I love watching thrillers, murder mysteries, and legal dramas — both movies and TV shows. I sometimes enjoy lighter shows like Friends or The Big Bang Theory, but not very often. I wonder if that’s enough to go on for recommendations.
Thanks! ☺️

If you want an easy on-ramp from TV thrillers, try The Guest List by Lucy Foley or The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly. Neither is capital-L literature, but both are way better at page-turning than the random Libby thriller trap.
