My son loves space and we read a lot of kids non fiction books about space. We also have read some series for kids but they seem too childish. I’m looking for a series, preferably fiction but ok with non fiction that will hold his attention and mine.
Some examples of what we’ve read:
Galaxy Zack which was ok at first and now too simple for him
Catstronauts which is also too simple
Mysteries of the Universe DK Children’s Anthology

***Danny Dunn and the Anti-gravity Paint***. (Maybe. It may be too childish for what you’re seeking.)
The Zero Chronicles by Dan Wells. The first book is called Zero G. It’s science fiction following a 12 year old boy who is traveling with his family to colonize a new planet. We listened to the audiobooks on a road trip and everyone enjoyed it.
*Ender’s Game* and the other Orson Scott Card books in the series! But I’d recommend you read the plot summaries first to check that the story isn’t too dark to read to your kid!
A Wrinkle in Time, Chronicles of Narnia, Tiffany Aching series
The Voyagers series
Voyage of the Dogs (standalone, but good)
It isn’t really space, but a scifi reader may also enjoy the Wild Robot books
Hidden Figures has a children’s version, not technically fiction but he might like it.
Secret Explorers series has at least one set in space – and he might like branching out to the others.
The *George’s Secret Key To The Universe* books by Stephen Hawking are exactly what you’re looking for!
