Hey! Little background here I have a 13 year old who’s reading comprehension id say is about age level. Previously read Harry Potter books couple years ago which were favorites however this year remarkably bright creatures and uprising was read and uprising is the new favorite lol they enjoyed reading how the characters fought for their rights and came from different backgrounds. I have my child read lightly over the course of the year but during summer I try to make it a daily thing. I want to make a list for the future.. so what’s a book you wish you had read sooner or maybe a book you believe everyone should read before becoming an adult? Any genre is appreciated! Could be a self help book, feminism, historical, educational, fun read, adventure etc thank you!:)

Your kid sounds like they’re developing really good taste in books! Since they loved the activism themes in uprising, maybe something like “The House You Pass on the Way” could work when they’re bit older – deals with identity and finding your voice without being too heavy. For the general “before adulting” question, I always recommend “The Giver” if they haven’t read it yet – really makes you think about society and individual choice in way that sticks with you.
