I mostly didnt like the writing style in blood meridian but it also got incredibly boring even though its only 300 pages.

I’ve been on a total western kick after reading killers of a flower moon and would love to find some other good stories. I already have warlock and butchers crossing on my list, anything im missing?

Honest to God answer that may sound odd, but try Cormac McCarthy’s “Crossing Trilogy”. It’s nothing like Blood Meridian, and the middle book (The Crossing) is a top 10 book I’ve ever read. I think it’s his best work, and he’s written some seriously good stuff.

    2. Anything by Elmer Kelton. His Ranger series consists of 9 books and covers about fifty years, the 1830s to 1880s.

Stand Proud is a great book that covers a guy’s life from when he was a young man during the Civil War to him being a rancher around the turn of the century.

Kelton has books that take place from the early 1800s all the way to the 1980s when they were written. He was the son & grandson of working cowboys and he worked for years as a stock reporter for the San Angelo, Texas newspaper.

In case you can’t tell, he’s probably my favorite author of all time.

It sounds cliché, but Lonesome Dove is one of the best books I have ever read in any genre.

I also second the other poster’s suggestion for The Crossing trilogy.

I got you – two ones you’ll love:

      – The Bullet Swallower – Elizabeth Gonzalez James
      – The Sisters Brothers – Pateick DeWitt
